LEARNING CENTER / SERVICE PLANNING

Choose an oil-change schedule you can follow.

A useful service interval fits the exact oil, engine, operating conditions and applicable instructions. Build the schedule around those details, then record the next due date or mileage so the plan is easy to carry out.

How often should I change my oil?

Check your owner’s manual and the current guidance for the exact oil and filter you use. Follow the applicable mileage, time or operating-hour limits and service conditions. There is no single interval that covers every AMSOIL product and vehicle.

What changes the answer?

Normal and severe service definitions come from the manufacturer. Towing, extensive idling and other demanding use can affect the appropriate schedule. Use the definition that applies to your equipment rather than deciding from annual mileage alone.

Considering a longer interval?

Read the exact product’s limits, exclusions and filter requirements before making a change. Some applications or extensions need oil analysis. Review AMSOIL’s interval guidance and, for diesel equipment, the diesel service guide.

Make a service record you can reuse

  • Vehicle or equipment and engine.
  • Oil and filter used.
  • Service date and mileage or hours.
  • Applicable interval and any special conditions.
  • Next service due and checks required in between.

Keep receipts and notes together. A clear record is useful whether you maintain the equipment yourself or hand it to a service provider.

Does low annual mileage remove the time limit?

No. Review the time limit as well as mileage or hours in the applicable instructions. Whichever limit governs your application belongs on the calendar.

Get the product and the plan together

Find the suitable oil first, then check its service guidance. If a requirement is unclear, send Trey the vehicle details and the product you are considering.
